What makes Hyundai different
A Tucson that won't start, an Elantra remote that barely works, these feel like vehicle issues. They're usually key issues. The diagnosis changes what gets replaced.
Tucson, Santa Fe, and Sonata push-start systems authorize the engine through proximity — if the fob doesn't register, the button doesn't work. When that happens, the key is usually the problem, not the car. A dead or near-dead fob battery is the most common cause, but a failing board can produce the same result with a fresh battery.
Older Elantra and Sonata models used chip-based transponder keys. They look like a normal car key. The chip is embedded in the plastic bow, and the car reads it electronically on every start. A hardware store duplicate will turn the ignition without firing the engine. Both the cut and the chip have to match.
When only certain Elantra fob buttons stop responding, usually lock or unlock, the shell and contacts are typically the problem. The board itself is usually fine. This is a different fix than a failing fob, and the diagnosis matters before anything gets replaced.
When every key is gone, the vehicle's IMMO system needs to be reset from scratch before new fobs will register. This is more involved than adding a spare, the immobilizer has to forget the old keys before it can learn the new ones. It's done on site, but it takes more time.

FAQ
The push-start system needs the fob battery to be strong enough to authorize the start. If the battery is low, not dead, just low, the car won't respond. Replace the fob battery first. If it keeps happening, the fob board needs to be looked at.
Yes. We handle Hyundai smart key fobs and transponder keys on site. Most jobs are completed the same visit at your location, no tow, no dealer appointment.
If only the unlock button stopped working, the button contact inside the fob is usually the issue, not the board or the programming. It's worth diagnosing before replacing the whole fob.
Yes. It's a longer job because the immobilizer has to be reset, but it's done on site. The vehicle doesn't need to be towed — we bring the equipment to wherever it's parked.
