The Key Man

Johns Island, South Carolina

Car key replacement, out where the driveways run long

Maybank Highway, River Road, the farm stands and the land around Angel Oak — I bring cutting and programming equipment to the vehicle itself, wherever it's parked on the island.

I'm Dylan. I run The Key Man — automotive keys only — since 2019, over 17,842 keys cut and programmed. When you call, you're talking to the person who shows up and does the work.

Johns Island is a lot of ground — working farmland alongside newer construction, long stretches between one address and the next. That shape is exactly why a mobile visit makes more sense than trying to get a vehicle somewhere else. Whether the car is in a driveway off River Road or parked at a stand along Maybank Highway, the plan is the same: I come to it.

What I handle

  • Car key replacementLost, broken, or worn keys cut and programmed at the vehicle.
  • Lost car keysA new key generated from the vehicle's own security data.
  • Spare keysCut and programmed while one key still works.
  • Key fob replacementShell, battery, or transmitter — diagnosed and replaced on site.
  • Push-to-start programmingProximity fobs enrolled directly to the vehicle's system.
  • LockoutsDamage-free entry, tools built for modern door construction.

Lost every key — what happens

First, ownership gets verified — photo ID plus title or registration, before anything is cut or programmed.
Then the year, make, model, and VIN tell me the chip family and cut method, confirmed before I arrive.
The key is cut and programmed right at the vehicle — driveway, field, or job site.
Last, the new key is tested, and the missing one is erased from the system for good.

Johns Island car key questions

How much does a replacement car key cost on Johns Island?

It depends on the key type. Basic transponder keys generally start around $75. Push-to-start proximity fobs usually run $150–$300 depending on the make and model. I'll confirm an exact number once I know your vehicle.

Do you come out past Maybank Highway, toward River Road?

Yes. Large lots and long driveways are normal out here, and it doesn't change anything about the visit — I come to wherever the vehicle is parked.

Can you make a key without the original?

Yes. If every key is lost, I can generate a new one from the vehicle's own security data instead of copying an existing key — handled at the vehicle for most makes and models.

Can you program key fobs?

Yes — transponder chips and full proximity fobs both, with the same equipment a dealership uses, brought to you.

How long does a visit take?

Most spare-key and fob jobs are under an hour once I arrive. Lockouts are usually quicker. All-keys-lost jobs take longer since more is involved in generating a key from scratch.

Is there an extra charge for coming out to Johns Island?

No — no separate travel charge.
